Method

1.Combine bread and milk in a bowl. Stand for 2 minutes or until bread absorbs milk. Add mince, onion, ham, half the basil, walnuts and parmesan to bread mixture. Season. Mix well. Shape mixture into 20 balls.
2.Heat oil in a deep frying pan over high heat. Add meatballs; cook and turn for 5 minutes or until browned. Add tomatoes, remaining basil and 1/2 cup water. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes or until meatballs are cooked and sauce reduces.
3.Meanwhile, cook pasta in a saucepan of boiling salted water for 10 minutes or until tender. Drain; return to pan.
4.Add meatball sauce to pasta in pan; toss to combine. Divide pasta between serving bowls. Serve sprinkled with extra parmesan and extra basil.

You can add 1 teaspoon sugar to pasta sauce as it cooks to reduce the acidity of the tomatoes, and a pinch of ground chilli for extra heat. To speed things up, use bought fresh or frozen meatballs. Price will vary.
