Ingredients

Method

1.Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil. Cook pasta 10 minutes, or until tender; drain. Set aside.
2.Combine mince, green onion, garlic, herbs, egg and breadcrumbs in a bowl. Season. Using damp hands, roll mixture into 24 meatballs.
3.Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in same saucepan over moderate heat. Add brown onion. Cook, stirring, 5 minute, or until softened. Add remaining garlic; cook, stirring, further 1 minute or until fragrant. Add tomatoes and stock. Bring to the boil. Cook 10 minutes, or until reduced slightly.
4.Meanwhile, heat remaining oil in a deep frying pan over moderately high heat. Cook meatballs, in batches, 8-10 minutes, turning, until browned. Transfer to a heatproof plate.
5.Add meatballs and pasta to tomato sauce. Cook 3 minutes, or until heated. Serve sprinkled with basil and parmesan.

You’ll need 1 1/2 slices of bread to make 3/4 cup breadcrumbs.
