1.Preheat oven to 200°C
2.In a large saucepan of boiling water, cook cauliflower and broccoli 10-15 minutes or until tender. Drain well.
3.Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium saucepan. Mix in flour, cook 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in milk.
4.Return to heat. Cook, stirring. until sauce boils and thickens. Simmer 3 minutes. Stir in ham and 3/4 cup cheese. Season to taste.
5.Arrange cauliflower and broccoli in a 10-cup casserole dish. Pour sauce evenly over vegetables. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
6.Bake 20-25 minutes until heated through and golden brown. Serve as a meal in itself or as a meal accompaniment.
To give the topping a crispy texture, combine the cheese with 1/2 cup of fresh bread crumbs.
