A traditional Greek baked pasta dish, this pastitsio recipes combines tender lamb, macaroni, mushrooms and a creamy ricotta topping to create this hearty, tasty meal.
1.Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Lightly grease an 8-cup ovenproof dish.
2.Heat oil in a large frying pan on medium. Saute onion and garlic 2 minutes, until onion is tender.
3.Add mince and mushrooms. Brown 5 minutes, breaking up mince with a spoon. Stir in sauce, oregano and cinnamon. Cook on medium 10 minutes, until most liquid evaporates.
4.Cool mince mixture, then stir 1/2 cup parmesan and beaten egg. Transfer to prepared dish.
5.For topping: bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil. Cook pasta 10 minutes, until just tender, adding broccoli for last 3 minutes. Drain, then stir through combined ricotta, sour cream and egg. Spread over meat mixture. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan. Bake 20-25 minutes. Serve with salad.
