1.Place beans in medium bowl, cover with water; stand overnight.
2.Cook bacon, onion and garlic in lightly oiled large saucepan, stirring, until onion softens. Add rinsed, drained beans, paste, undrained tomatoes, the water, sauce and mustard; bring to a boil.
3.Reduce heat; simmer, covered, about 1½ hours or until beans are just tender. Stir maple syrup into hot beans before serving.
You can soak the beans early in the day before you want to serve them, then at night make this recipe; reheat the beans for breakfast the following day.
